The requirements to become a “Master of Golf Club Technology” are as follows:
Masters must have experience as a Professional Club Technician, Fitter & Golf Club Builder
• 1993 Graduate of the Golfsmith Advanced Clubfitting/Clubmakers School
• Certification of the Golf Clubmakers Assoc. - Advanced Professional Clubmaker
Accredited Advanced Professional Clubmaker certification from the Golf Clubmakers
Association, requires the clubmaker to pass a rigorous 400-question exam covering a
variety of specifications and design, clubmaking, fitting, assembly, frequency/flex,
Topics including swingweighting, rules of golf as related to equipment, loft and lie,
grips, and graphite vs. steel shafts and other relating issues surrounding golf clubmaking.
• Member of the Association of Golf Clubfitting Professionals – Certified Level 10
Certification in the AGCP requires the clubfitter/clubmaker to go through a scrutinizing
evaluation of clubfitting/clubmaking techniques and business practices by some of the best
club fitters and clubmakers in the world.
• Certified Professional Clubmakers Society – Class-A Clubmaker
Certification from the Professional Clubmakers Society, indicates that the clubmaker has met the highest standard of academic proficiency, applied technology and excellence in the areas of clubmaking, club fitting and club repair. It requires the clubmaker to pass an extensive written exam covering a variety of specifications and design, clubmaking, fitting, assembly, frequency and flex criteria. The exam also requires the clubmaker to assemble a sampling of golf clubs built to exacting specifications by the Professional Clubmakers Society’s’ technical staff. It is the most rigorous, continually updated certification process in the clubmaking industry. PCS members pledge adherence to a strict Code of Ethics that prohibits knowingly selling or representing counterfeit components or golf clubs.
